About

DR OLIVER McGOWAN

Dr Oliver McGowan is a clinical radiation oncologist who has been in private practice for several years.

Dr McGowan is originally from the Eastern Cape, schooled in Natal, where he also completed his undergraduate training in 2004. He did his internship in Cape Town.

It was during his community service working in the Department of Oncology that he found inspiration and unique fulfilment in connecting with patients and guiding them through their cancer journey.

Before specialising, he spent three years living and working abroad, initially in Australia for a year and then in Ireland for two years. This afforded him the opportunity to travel the world whilst attaining the invaluable experience of broadening one’s perspective by practising medicine in different countries.

Dr McGowan returned home in 2010 and began his training working as a registrar in the Department of Radiation Oncology. He completed his training in 2014 and was honoured to become a Fellow of the College of Radiation Oncologists of South Africa.

After six years in private practice, Dr McGowan joined the Oncology Centre at Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, where he provides individualised care for patients with cancer.
